I'm definitely NOT there yet but hopefully I can find a happy medium between where I'm at and where I'm happy!

Long weekend

After 3 days off, I hit the gym again today. It felt great. I didn't want 3 days off but our stupid gym closes at 7pm on Friday and Saturday?!?! WTF? They're open 24 hrs during the week and they close at SEVEN? Lame.. anyways, I had a long weekend to rest before spinning again this morning.

Back to Spinning

Hooray!~ I finally got back to a spinning class this morning and it was AWESOME! Even though my legs were still really sore from lifting with Nate, I did well today. I came home with so much energy I ended up deep cleaning the entire basement for like 5 hours!!!
I am going to have to research heart rates though. We were announcing ours during class and while everyone else's were like 150.. I was at 185. Hopefully that doesn't mean I'm unhealthy. If you don't have a heartrate monitor I highly suggest getting one! You can get them for less than 50 bucks and its well worth it. I'm still using Nate's because the one my parents got me for Christmas came broken so I've got to go get another one. Also, if you haven't tried spinning yet.. DO IT! Don't let the sore butt turn you away, once you do the class a couple times it won't bother you anymore, and you can get a gel seat cover to make it more comfortable! Get out there and work it girls!

Holy Crap

My work schedule this week has completely screwed up my normal gym routine. Since I'm working days I can't make my 9am cycling class so I've been going at night which I hate.. but at least I'm going right! Monday I did a pilates class but it was a little too relaxing and not quite a workout. Yesterday I was classless so Nate convinced me to lift with him. OUCH! I realized just how much my body is falling apart and how weak I am. I could hardly do lunges and squats and all my arm exercises I had to do with like 5lb weights. Terrible... I am really sore today though so at least I'm feeling the effects! I think I will continue to lift but probably only once or twice a week.
Also this week we've been eating well. On Sunday we planned out the entire week and so far we've stuck to it!

Back to Reality

We're back from vacation and feeling less fit than ever. I think we ate out for EVERY meal while in Minnesota! Nate says he's gonna go to the gym for 4 hours today ;) Yeah right.. I'm excited to go to the gym tonight and get myself back on track. Today I was looking for healthy meals at self.com and read a great article about Jenna Fischer from "The Office." Self challenged her to make some simple changes in her life to be healthier, then she wrote about each change. (http://www.self.com/magazine/2009/02/jenna-fischer)
I've picked four that I'd like to try myself.

My Healthy New Habits

1. Make a healthy, crock-pot meal.
2. On a workday, go for a 20 minute jog.
3. On a workday, do 25 crunches.
4. Curl up with a book and relax.

I'm going to have to do some searching for recipes and create a rockin' jog/walk mix but these goals have me excited!! Read the article and the challenges and pick some for yourself. Or create new ones, just make sure they're easy to accomplish!
Good luck girls!

A Bad Day

I didn't go to the gym today. Not yet atleast. I woke up extra tired and decided to go back to sleep. Unfortunately since we're going out of town tomorrow I won't be able to go until next week! I guess I deserve a little break, I have been doing well lately but I do feel bad for not going this morning!!! Please don't let my laziness influence your workouts! Katy, I'm so happy your reading my blog!! I think you might be the only one! Hope you're feeling okay and get that baby to come out soon!!!

Whoaa!

Week ??
I don't know. Anyways, This week didn't start well. I babysat my niece yesterday morning so I wasn't able to go to class like I normally do. But watching a 4 year old counts as exercise right? Today I hit the gym even though the only thing I wanted to do was sleep! I had a terrible night, up all night long with pain in my hip and back. The great thing is I've figured out that as soon as I get out of bed it stops hurting for the most part so going to the gym actually gives me a little pain relief and pain relief is GREAT motivation!

How's my eating? Not bad I'd say. I haven't eaten fast foodf for weeks and I haven't been snacking at home or at work. This weekend is going to be tough since we'll be out of town, without a gym and with a lot of eating out but I'll try to be good. I think I'll miss the gym while I'm gone. That's a first!

Go Get em' this week girls!

Spining

Spinning is my ALL TIME favorite thing!! Today I got to use my new cycling shoes at class. Nate got them for me for Christmas but they were too small so it took awhile to get new ones ordered in. They made a big difference. I could tell my legs were getting worked more than normal! Hooray for awesome teachers too!! This week I've gone three times, for a total of 180 min. so far. I'm going tomorrow morning especially because Suzette is my favorite teacher. Her class goes by super fast! I'm feeling good about myself and my drive to get in shape. Today I also bought some new clothes for the gym which always gives me a boost! :) I can't wait to go tomorrow!

Happy New Year

My resolution, along with millions of Americans, is to get in shape. After 10 years of being a competitive athlete I'm now learning how life really works. How food really effects my body and how hard it is to stay one size! My final goal = be comfortable in my own skin and happy with the way I look and feel. I know it's going to take time and patience and A LOT of work but it's a new year and I want to be a new me.

I'm going to try and keep myself going by using my girlfriends and this blog for inspiration and encouragement. I'll definitely feel bad about myself knowing I have to blog tonight and I didn't go to the gym so hopefully it will keep me going. Also, I am really watching what I eat. I haven't eaten fast food since before the new year so that's a start. I've also been cooking more from scratch and not just making pasta from a bag ;)

Week 1 - Okay so the first we doesn't really count. I ate WAY too much on New Years Eve and felt sick all the next day but I did hit the gym on Friday for a spinning class (my favorite). So I missed the first day of the new year... and the third, and part of the next week.. but now I'm ready!
Wish me luck on my journey to skinny or just in shape.
