On the Road Again...

Yes... it's been months since I've posted about exercising... that's because it's been months since I actually did a whole lot! I changed work schedules and all my favorite gym classes clashed with my new schedule. So now.. I have a new plan.. REAL cycling!


Here's my new baby. She doesn't have a name yet but she's awesome! I let my inner cheapskate go for a day and forked out more than 500 bucks for her. (she's still one of the cheapest bikes in the store!). So I've been riding for the last two weeks. Not every day, but a few times. I've gone along the Legacy Parkway trail which is pretty nice. I did 10 miles my first ride which I was very proud of and I wasn't even sore the next day (obviously I can do more!). My biggest accomplishment so far has been riding from my house to my office downtown. It's only about 7.5 miles but there are a few good hills on the way, and dodging semis and other traffic along Beck Street! I made it my first time in 45 minutes! I didn't ride home that day, I had Nate pick me up :). but today i'm making the trek home. I got into work in 35 minutes today so i'm getting faster, but now my legs feel a little weak and I know I've got an uphill ride home in a few hours! Wish me luck.

OOOOOooo guess what else?!?! I'm doing a mini-triathlon next month with my sister. I'm super excited to try it and see how I do. I don't swim or run very well so it should be interesting!

New Job, New Workout Routine

Well.... what can I say? I'm happy to have a new shift and a good show (6pm news) but now my schedule is HORRIBLE for the gym. All the spinning classes are at 9am and 6pm.. 9am is too late for me to make it to work by 10:30.. and I don't get off work till almost 7! AHHH! I miss my spinning! So I've been thinking about getting a bike and riding to work. It should only take 15-20 minutes. I haven't tested it yet but I'm really excited to! Maybe next week when it's supposed to be sunny and nice. Right now I have my Dad's old mountain bike and it's not quite in working condition. Maybe i'll just go buy a bike!

I'm Back

Sort of... Being sick and lots of schedule changes have messed up my gym routine lately! I can't complain though. I got a promotion this week and am thrilled to finally have a "more" normal schedule than I've had for 2 years! My new schedule though makes it impossible for me to go to spin class at the gym so I've started doing my own classes. It's hard to push yourself as hard as you would be pushed by an instructor but I'm hoping I can keep it up. Have I lost any weight this year? No.... almost four months in and I'm still the same as I was in January. It's kind of frustrating but I'm going to keep on trying!

Way Back When

There was at time when I felt really good about my body. I felt comfortable in my skin and I wasn't embarassed to wear a swim suit. I wore them for several hours 6 days a week! I'd like to get back to that point. I'm sure it helped that I was tan in the picture above! But honestly, I was definately healthier back then and had a lot more self confidence. I don't even like wearing short sleeve shirts anymore and the last time I wore a swimsuit I cried.

Body Idols



I saw "New In Town" tonight with Renee Zellweger and HOLY CRAP is her body incredible! WOW! I would kill for her legs. They looked great the ENTIRE movie and believe me you can photoshop still photos but not video!! So that got me thinking, I could get there.. and she'll be my inspiration. Her legs and Kelly Ripa's arms! She's so toned it's amazing. So these women are my new body idols to keep me inspired to work out and eat better! Who's your body idol?

I'm There...

I'm on a different work schedule this week which has once again changed my workout schedule and today is the first time I really feel sad that I couldn't start my day at the gym! I really miss that 9am spin class, I'm always so energized afterwards! I'm working until 5:30 tonight but hopefully I can race up and make the 6pm class! I'm excited that I've gotten to a place where working out feels good and is a constant in my life, rather than something I do randomly. It only took 1 month ladies.. you can get there too!
